Bruce went for his three month check up for his glasses this week...we got good news and bad news. The good news is the glasses are working to correct his vision and to help with the eyes crossing. The bad news is that he has developed a weak eye. So the right side of his brain is not developing his vision properly. We have caught it really early, so he should be fine...but he now must wear a patch over one eye for a little over two hours a day. I was a little anxious about having to make a 21 month old wear a patch and how to explain to him he must keep it on. The following is the progression of how the last three days of the patch have been.
Tuesday-- Bruce is not happy with mom. He doesn't really try to take it off too much...he just cries most of the time it is on.
Wednesday-- He whines only a minute then seems to enjoy wearing the patch. Mom has a much better afternoon with Bruce.
Thursday-- Bruce lets me put the patch on him with no complaints. He plays and reads all afternoon and does not even act like anything is on his eye.
I think he looks adorable with all the cute designs on the patches. Now I think maybe we should have gotten him a Pirate costume for Halloween.

Yes--a pirate would have been a good idea--he looks SO cute with his patch!
